The smallest moments paint the biggest picture.

I don’t know about you, but my most most treasured memories aren’t of the big, extravagant shows of affection, or parties or gifts being exchanged, its the moments when you suddenly realise how immensely happy and content you are and how lucky you are to live the life you live. These are always the moments and feelings I want to remember. That’s where these botanical silhouettes started. The very first was created of my husband and little boy. It was a fleeting moment in time where we were about to enter the aquarium, I had run in first because I was desperate for the loo! I came back outside and glimpsed them both walking toward me, hand in hand, both with beaming smiles on their faces like they hadn’t seen me for years. My immediate thought was that I wanted to remember that moment and feeling forever. So I snapped a picture as quickly as I could and got to thinking how I could make it last forever..

If you have a moment in time that you want to last forever, whether it be the selfie you took, sat in the garden with your little one while they attempted to eat the dirt, that moment your other half walked out through the door and swiftly relived you of your parenting duties for half an hour so you could take a shower. Or you have someone else’s big moment in mind, like a wedding, mothers and fathers day or even a first time mum or dads birthday, these botanical silhouette’s are such a special and heartfelt gift.

These illustrations are created from my little cosy studio in Newcaste-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. All created with fine liner pen onto textured, 350gsm watercolour paper. With the people as the main event in the illustration, other special subjects can be added into the piece. For these illustrations to work best, the subjects need to be separate.
